holiday cottages in Stirlingshire

Sitting midway between Edinburgh and Glasgow, and between the Highlands to the north and lowlands to the south, Stirlingshire has long been at the crossroads of Scottish history. You too can discover that history with one of our holiday cottages in Stirlingshire.

You get a real sense of Scotland’s proud heritage in Stirling. Because of its important strategic position, Stirling has seen more than its fair share of strife. Stirling Castle is still a mighty fortress sitting high on a rocky crag and from here you can see the sites of no less than seven battles, including Bannockburn. It’s no wonder that our Stirlingshire cottage holidays have such an appeal for anyone with an interest in history. The old town of Stirling also has a fine concentration of historic buildings, best seen from the Back Walk along the city walls. Don’t miss the beautiful 17th century town house of the Dukes of Argyll.

Outside Stirling, make sure you visit the site of the Battle of Bannockburn. There is an excellent heritage centre here. And from the top of the Wallace Monument in Abbey Craig there are some wonderful views across Scotland.
