holiday cottages in Ayrshire

Our holiday cottages in Ayrshire are ideally located for the long stretches of sandy beach on the Firth of Clyde not to mention the 40 or more golf courses in the county. But they also give you the perfect opportunity to enjoy the many attractions of Glasgow, including the Burrell Collection, a world class museum, and the Kelvingrove art gallery. Definitely a must see on one of our Ayrshire cottage holidays.

Ayrshire also boasts Culzean Castle. Standing on a cliff in the middle of a grand country park, this is a major showcase of the work of Robert Adam. The oval staircase here is a true work of art, as is the Saloon, which looks out over the Clyde. There is also a fascinating collection of flintlock pistols in the Armoury.

Along the coast lies a string of fine seaside towns, including Ayr, birthplace of both William Wallace and Robert the Bruce and famous for its racecourse; the golfer’s town of Troon and Victorian Largs. While you’re here, take the ferry to the Isle of Arran, often described as “Scotland in miniature” because of the wide variety of landscapes to be found there.
